Soccer trounces Central College

Kelsey Nistler
Saturday was a great first day of play in Waverly, Iowa for the Wildcat soccer team. Led by a strong, attacking offense, they defeated Central College 7-0.

First-year forward Kolletta Dorsher headed up the Wildcats offensive outpouring by scoring the first three goals of her collegiate career. Returning MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention award winner Kelsey Nistler almost matched Dorsher's hat-trick, scoring two goals of her own. Breanna Olson and Sam Levercom each put one shot past the Central goalkeeper. Those were Olson and Levercom's first goals scored in a Wildcats uniform.

St. Kate's again played strong defense. Goalkeepers Kaylee Schmit and Rachel Farrell combined to prevent Central from putting any points on the scoreboard. It was the third straight shut-out for Coach Bellis' young squad.

Bellis was particularly pleased with the way his team took charge of the field. He noted that it "was a competitive first-half, but we scored some nice goals. Overall, we played good attacking soccer. That is what allowed us to be successful today. Hopefully we can carry that into tomorrow's game."

The Wildcats face Wartburg College Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
